Few things to mention.
1. I never did any work to get asyncore up and running. Although I
think Charlie might have. Charlie?
2. Which asyncore did you try? There is no asyncore module in the
current distribution (2.2.1). Did you take one from cpython? Which
version of cpython?
3. You ran it against 2.2.1? So you're using the old
getchannel()/fileno() support (which was slightly over-complex,
Philips work, checked in on trunk, simplified it). But the old 2.2.1
code should still work fine.
4. If you're getting a "Not watchable" error, it means that the module
is trying to get a handle on the underlying channel for the socket,
but failing. This is probably some small error, since all jython
sockets now have a watchable channel/fileno, have had since jython
2.2. So it's probably a simple matter to rectify it.
If you can supply more details of what code you're running, it'll be
easier to establish what's happening. A simple code sample would be
good as well.
Since asyncore is not yet part of the distribution, it's probably not
appropriate to register this as a bug. Although doing so might be
useful; it's good to have a record of such things.
