Hi,
I've gotten myself a remotecontrol and was thinking about using Lirc
with my IBM R31 (a laptop). I'm running the 2.6.3-mm4 kernel, patched=20
for Lirc with the patch from <URL:http://flameeyes.web.ctonet.it/#lirc>,=20
and lirc 0.7pre2, but I've tried both lirc 0.7pre1 and 0.6.6. and the=20
regular 2.6.3 kernel. It remained dead, as if the port isn't receiving=20
anything.=20
I tried both the lirc_sir and lirc_serial drivers, although I'm pretty=20
sure it is the first one that should work.
The hardware is OK, since IrDA seems to work.
After googling some more (and grepping the sources), I found out that
code for the lirc_sir driver was borrowed from IrDA. IIUC the IrDA=20
project only added code for the NSC PC8739x chipsets for kernels=20
2.4.25pre6 and 2.6.0test1 and upwards. The newest CVS snapshot for Lirc=20
(0.7pre2) is from 05-08-2003, 2.4.25 was released 18-02-2004. The lirc=20
patches for 2.6 are created from the sources included in the=20
aformentioned snapshot.
Could anybody please confirm my research is correct, and that the
chipset indeed isn't supported (yet?). If I'm wrong, could/would
anybody be so kind as to throw me a free clue?
If I'm right, is anybody interested in adding support? Is it being
worked upon?
