Sorry for the slow reply. I don't know of a straightfoward way to modify
smartd to do what you want. I would suggest that you write a simple
script which uses smartctl and checks (say once per minute) to see if a
self-test is still in progress. Then log that data to a file with systime
time/date timestamps and later do a comparison with the smartd logs.
