This could be done with a plugin, but you'd have to watch for all
possible window creation, because just about every dialog and other
window in Gaim results in a taskbar entry. Gaim is pure and simply not
Winamp, and I don't think the idea of having it be so minimalistic makes
sense. In winamp all the related "subwindows" don't ever have taskbar
entries because they're technically all attached and part of one
Conversations are separate entities from the buddy list in Gaim. It
makes the windows very hard to access if you can't find them. The
docklet icon controls the display of the buddy list itself, so I see
hiding that taskbar entry as reasonable.

plugin, that's fine, but I'm not going to support this idea in my plugin
or merged into Gaim, and I suspect others will agree with me.
