You will either have the serial driver module loaded, or it is built into your
kernel. Use lsmod to see if the "serial" module is loaded.
Although the docs suggest that you can tune-out the serial driver using
"setserial" I found that recompiling a kernel with a serial module, and
loading lirc_serial BEFORE the serial module was the only safe way to go.
