as i have wrote some days ago, i had have the same problem with an ASUS
TX97 (a Pentium MMX board). You can (as you have wrte) substitute the
RTS line with the 12V from the drive power connector.
Same solution, if the board only gives to low voltage over the RTS pin
as my VIA Epia 5000 does ...
