IlohaMail

After spending some more time trying to find the solution to this, I
found and old entry in this mailing list. Turns out Ryo had a nice
solution.

I think you should add a section for this somewhere on the homepage,
since bincimap is an imapd that is gaining popularity. It's the fastest
I have ever seen, and makes browsing your e-mail very fast in
combination with the wonderful speed of Ilohamail :)
