Hi,

For starters, try the emacs command:

semantic-ectag-version

which will hopefully provide more messages.

The ctags program is stored in the variable semantic-ectag-program-list.

If you execute the program by name stored there, such as:

ctags-exuberent --version

what does it say?

I'm guessing it cannot find your ctags binary.

  Detected Exuberent CTags version : 0 WITHOUT regex support

When I describe the variable semantic-ectag-program I get (I don't
seem to have "semantic-ectag-program-list"):

  Its value is "ctags"

I don't have ctags-exuberant, but only ctags (running Cygwin). Both
inside of Emacs or in a Cygwin bash shell I get:

  % type ctags
  ctags is /usr/bin/ctags
  % ctags --version
  ctags (standalone 21.4.22)
  Copyright (C) 2007 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
  This program is distributed under the terms in ETAGS.README

Oddly enough, I get all the same results listed above running on
Fedora 11 w/ Emacs 23.1.1. Thanks.
