I previously mailed this list about bad performance on OS X; this was due to me using cedet-build.el to byte-compile the various files. Using the makefile (and setting EMACS appropriately) I was able to get all of cedet to build and work wonderfully.
Using cedet-compile.el, many files generate errors such as
srecode-compile.el:111:1:Error: Symbol's value as variable is void: filename
I'm too much of a novice in elisp to start trying to figure out what's causing this error. In theory I've attached a text file containing all the contents of the *Compile-Log* buffer hoping that maybe someone else can make heads or tails of this.
I'm running Emacs 23.2.1, downloaded from http://emacsformacosx.com/, although this same problem happens with 23.2.1 built from source. I'm using cedet 1.0.
