Does your CVS repository correctly have a complete version of
cedet/speedbar/speedbar.el? Once every 6 months or so, someone posts a
question like this, and updating from CVS a second time clears up the
problem. I think sometimes a CVS checkout of cedet just fails to work
properly the first time. The matching 1.0pre6 error is very suspicious
though. I happen to run your exact configuration and don't have this
After it shows that error, you should still be able to run
M-x cedet-version RET
M-x locate-library RET speedbar RET
to see what might be going on.
