Subject: tiki and the metadata revolution
To: tikiwiki-devel@...
Dear all:
Im really excited about all the metadata things that are happening
right now. I see this tags and folksonomy boom as a start of the path
that will take us to the semantic web.
Tiki is really metadata-aware but I think we have to publish / export
the information in standard ways.
For example, categories are tags. I think we should associate some
"tag names" to categories and also asociate them to DMOZ categories.
In my site, http://www.elcuerpodecristo.com (about food, etc) I have a
category called "Ingredients::Fruits". I could associate the tag
"fruits" and the DMOZ categories "Home: Cooking: Fruits and
Vegetables" to this TIKI category.
Then, all categorized pages should print in a standard way how they're
categorized (see http://www.technorati.com/help/tags.html)
I know this will add more db queries to our already query overloaded
tiki (we can add a checkbox to enable/disable it), but I think its a
great new functionality, which we could implement easily and users
don't have to change anything to start using it (and old data will use
this new feature, without changing it a bit)
more ideas?
