Hi dbpedia community:
Just a quick note to let you all know that the Semantic Web Deployment
Group has published a Last Call Working Draft of the SKOS Reference
[1]. Since dbpedia uses SKOS quite a bit I thought it would be
worthwhile pinging dbpedia-discussion explicitly. While the comment
period ended 3 days ago, the working group would still value any input
you may have. In particular the namespace for SKOS has been identified
as a feature at risk [2]:
"""
The URI of the SKOS namespace. The current draft introduces a new
namespace for the SKOS vocabulary. Comments have been made that this
may cause difficulty for existing SKOS implementations or
vocabularies. As a result, the choice of SKOS namespace should be
considered "at risk of change".
"""
Part of the motivation behind this is to allow existing
implementations that use deprecated features (skos:subject, etc) to
continue to be correct. If anyone has the time to comment on this it
would be greatly appreciated [3]. Also, general emails of support for
SKOS moving forward are (of course) most welcome.
