I'd love to see such a project prosper. I've always thought it would be

If you're willing to GPL E0, you could lift the import code out of
Marathon 2's source, or right from Aleph One. There's no point in
repeating all that work.

I'll counter-offer by saying there's some remarkable potential to Aleph
One, if you need a change of pace, and want to work on some more mature
and functional (but also much uglier, I'm guessing) code for a while.
My recommendation for E0 is to pick a Free or Open Source license, your
choice, set up a sourceforge project, and put it in CVS there. That
lowers the barrier in case someone wants to help.
