Subject: ROX and Russian Translation
Good afternoon, mister Leonard!
I've been using ROX-Filer v 2.2.0 for about a year and I should say this
program was like a gift of Heaven for my old notebook. But from the very
beginning I noticed that the translation of ROX in Russian (my native
language) is seriously flawed: there are numerous misprints, more than a
100 messages are left untranslated and some translations are absolutely
inadequate to the original messages.
So finally I made all the necessary corrections to the ru.po file and
finished the translation myself. And now I came to think that I should
submit my translation back to the ROX project.
I checked the current ru.po file from the cvs and it seems to be in the
the same state as in version 2.2.0 (69 draft messages, 113
untranslated). In its header I read that:
"Last-Translator: Alexey Lubimov <avl@..."
"Language-Team: Russian <out of team>\n"
Does it mean that now there is nobody in ROX team who maintains the
Russian translation? If so, do you need somebody to do this job? And
anyway, would my translations be useful to the ROX project?
I've never participated in any Open-Source project, so I just don't know
what to do now, though I am eager to help. I hope that you would be so
kind as to find some time and give me some necessary directions on what
to to do next; how can I submit my translation to the ROX project?
