Sometimes projects Gramps builds upon change things our users might
not like. As Gramps developers there is little we can do about that,
we should follow the style guidelines of the style Gramps is drawn in

For upcoming releases, Gnome/Gtk has decided menu's should no longer
hold icons, and now Ubuntu will make it difficult to quickly change
this by no longer having a setting for that. So they become text only
Some environments/distributions change this by default (eg, on KDE you
see icons again). I really would not know what to think about the
issue, I guess I am inclined to like the icons, I think I see the icon
before I read the text.
Anyway, if you are for, or against this as a user of Gramps, take a

Note that this is the same as the toolbar changes that you might have
noticed after an upgrade: toolbar with or without text. Also that is a
style setting Gramps just follows.
