Congratulations you've got X working!
Believe it or not that is the default screen for X without having
anything running on top. Now you need to launch some applications on
the top. Do you have KDE or similar installed?
Grab a terminal and type 'export DISPLAY=3D":1"'. This will set it to
send stuff to the vnc window. Type in icewm or your favourite wm (or
one you've got installed) and go from there. Any graphical command
helps. I must stress that this is a general Debian issue, not a
coLinux issue. Debian isn't the most newbie friendly distro, so you
might want to get some hours up on a normal Linux box with a slightly
more friendly distro.
