The dependency was added first, so people could start work on doing
gtkmm conversions to get some practice; a little gtkmm work has been
done. Adding this dependency was one of the early changes in the 0.39
development cycle.

Probably 2.0-2.2, but you should plan on upgrading for 0.40 as I believe
we plan to switch to the 2.4 version then. IIRC there are some API
incompatibilities between 2.2 and 2.4.
