Yes.. unfortunately older versions of ReZound cannot open a .rez file 
saved by a newer version of rezound (not as a rule, but whenever the 
format changes to some extent in a newer version).  The workaround if 
you really need to open a .rez file in an older version is simply to use 
the newer version to save the .rez file as a .wav or something, then 
that can be loaded in the older version of rezound.

Hope this isn't too much of an inconvenience... :(

You could also add debian testing to the apt-sources file and get
version 0.10.0beta from there. This version will  eventually be adopted
for the next demudi release, so you are just jumping ahead a little bit.

I found that the demudi rezound was .9; Davy says the bleeding edge is
11.1. But if I added testing, apt would get me .10. And it updated some
other things, too. Now jack claims it can't talk to the server, and
rezound says the player isn't initialized. But alsaplayer seem happy to
play songs -- and when I bring up the hdsp-mixer (one of the RME card
GUIs), *all* the meters are bouncing. 

Beginning to long for the good old days of a 351, a china marker, and a
razorblade :-)

Sorry for suggesting that then. Does JACK work in general ?

What do you mean by all the meteres are bouncing ?
When playing with alsaplayer through JACK ?
Have you tried without JACK ?

Do you know what version of JACK you have installed on your system ?

We'll figure this one out, I'm sure.
