For what it's worth, I reached someone in tech support at denon who
tells me that their remotes are based on the sharp lc3715 ic which uses
pulse-phased modulation at 37.9kHz with a clock base of 455kHz.

A) what can I do to help with this? I have a second machine with a
hauppauge tv card that has an ir port. can I use this to do useful
debugging?
B) my permanent installation will not use a laptop, but a PC with external
ir hardware. what do you recommend as best for transmission? the irman
only seems to talk about receiving.
