regarding any segfault, a "valgrind" trace and/or GCC stack dump would
be required to track this down.
I do recall however that GTK2 isn't fully supported yet by Audacity (?),
so recompiling using GTK1 would be the first step to try.
Regarding the "Play" problem I suspect it could be a problem with the
mixing of OSS emulation and 2.6 kernel. Can you try to use ALSA instead?
(Yes, I know ALSA has its own set of problem with Audacity at the
moment, but it would be worth a try.)
Also, please try to use always the last CVS AUDACITY_1_2 branch for bug
reports (or alternatively the last pre-release), because things like
segfaults are really hard to reproduce otherwise. Even if the code in
question has not changed, it could be that other things have changed,
which lead to relocations of other code.
