Thanks for the suggestion, that worked for me.
However, now I have multiple copies of all of the dependencies, which I need
to keep up-to-date. Since a lot of the packages (PHP, GTK, etc.) are used
by multiple open-source programs, I'd like to find a way to use the ones
that I had previously installed in a common directory, rather than having
private copies of every library with each application.
