My turn to apologise for the delay in responding.
I actually think it is a very good thing if libsets support
referencing. To this end I have modified my local copy of LibrarySet
to be a DataType and added reference. support.
I am also considering adding condition support to libset. In this way
I can set up a build cc task which is executed for all libraries and
executables passing in which librarties etc I want linked.
I very much favour only defining the libraries in one place.
Would you be prepared to review/commmit an updated LibrarySet with
these features ?
WRT Solaris, my first attempt at runn the CC task resulted in ant
hanging. Replacing the "-help" paramater in the constructor of
ForteCCCompiler.java with "-V" got things running.
This is the output of CC -V on my development box
CC: Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 C++ 5.3 Patch 111685-06 2002/03/09
I had to update the length of max_command_line in (can check later).
to get things moving.
An interesting feature of the /usr/lib directory on our Solaris 8
installation is that it has circular references in the file system.
ln4d88cmp> ls -ld /usr/lib/32
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 1 Mar 20 18:06 /usr/lib/32 -> ./
This caused the search for libraries to take a long time, or at least until
java had run out of memory.

Sorry about the delay. LibrarySet is not a DataType and therefore is not
expected to support referencing. Much of the documentation (especially the
.html files) need to be either rewritten or superceded. A couple of months
ago (the last time I had any free time to spend with the code), I started
rewriting the docs, but things have been off the wall busy. In the interim
the Ant's Xdocs proposal has apparently matured enough that we could
investigate using it again. I'd definitely like to carve out enough time to
get the docs reasonable so we could do a release, but not this weekend.
As for Solaris issues, there has been some Solaris users on the list. If
you would describe the issues and any suggested changes, maybe we could
