I also have my figures in a sub directory, and I use
in the LaTeX preamble. But I think you are already doing that too.
Adding a text field to the export dialogue seems too much to me; I think
the \graphicspath command is less work, and also makes it possible to
reuse the inkscape generated files in a different folder structure.
I think we have a "bug"-report on this on Launchpad.
