As [previously announced], the Statistics system was brought back online on 2008-08-05 we commenced the processing of the stats data backlog immediately after.
As of today, 2008-08-25, processing of historical project statistics data has completed. Project web, CVS, Subversion, site web, and download traffic information is all approximately current (stats are within an hour or two of "now") and approaching real-time. This backlog processing completed one day ahead of schedule and was sped-up by the deployment of Engineering code changes to eliminate system-level blocking during data processing.
Project rankings and aggregate statistics are inaccurate and will be recalculated. The SourceForge.net Engineering team is currently analyzing the best approach to performing this rank recomputation, and determining the best way to test the process before we pursue this computationally-intensive operation. (Before you cut down a big tree, you need to make sure your saw or axe is sharp, otherwise you spend entirely too much time and effort cutting down the tree.)
**It is anticipated that the rank recompute will commence at the end of this week or early next week. Further update will be provided on the anticipated completion date for project ranking recomputation once this process has been initiated.**
Please note that project rankings from 2008-06 (when the statistics system was brought offline in lead up to the migration) until 2008-08-25 should be considered suspect and inaccurate. Rankings from this time period are in-scope for our project ranking recomputation effort.
