Jikes RVM

Hi Eliot,

I have created you a wiki account of:
Username: "Eliot Moss"
Password: mossw1k1
I'm trying to keep user names as humanly readable as possible, but we
can create an account with a different user name if you prefer. The
password can be changed in the wiki too. I will reply to the rest of
your post on the mailing list.

I'm afraid I've noticed that the Jikes RVM and other wikis on
sourceforge are slow. Unfortunately the set up means that wiki pages are
held on a database that must be queried every time you read a page.
There are some techniques used by media wiki to speed this up, and the
current version is a lot faster than older versions, but I'm afraid this
may be a symptom of using sourceforge.

I put a small amount on keeping an eye on the wiki. The recent changes
page works for my account and the all users account from my machine,
maybe the sourceforge connection is more heavily loaded where you are? I
will try to make the description of where the rss feed is on the recent
change page clearer.

The user list not displaying is a symptom of the database being slow to
respond. Its been working for me today, but I might be being lucky.

Also, note there are a couple of known issues effecting combined use of
Mediawiki-Firefox. The most common are:

(1) Firefox incorrectly thinking it should open a file dialog when you click
on a html link;
(2) Sportatic long (multi-minute) pauses when clicking a link, then return
garbage;
(3) Pages sportatically not being wiki-formatted, if refresh too rapidly;

Fortunately, these issues are sufficiently rare (at least in my use).
