I'm currently writing my first COM server using MinGW. In my previous daytime
jobs I did a lot of COM server & client programming with MSVC, and I loved the
ATL. I was wondering if there is such a thing as ATL that can be used under
Since the ATL is proprietary MS source code (at least, I think so), and I do
not have a license for MSVC, I'm looking for alternatives. I couldn't really
find anything (it's hard to search for "COM" on google ;) ), so I just started
out with a raw scetch myself of the core COM server plumbing... was I too hasty?
In the event there's no such thing already, is anyone interested in my efforts?
And also: what do I have to look out for when writing an ATL-like library to
not tread on MS copyrights? I'm currently implementing only the things I need
in my own project without looking at the ATL source, but since I used the ATL
quite a lot in the past, I imagine I might re-invent the wheel in a similar
fashion as ATL did. Code duplication sort of might occur in this way, although
not on purpose... Any lawyers with information on this reading this forum? ;)
Thanks in advance,
