Something else to check, make sure your Access Point has the latest
firmware. I started having problems with my Linux box not connecting or
only connecting sporadically... Gave up working on it for the night when I
noticed two of my WinXP computers were having issues too...
On a hunch I downloaded the latest firmware for my Access Point, installed
and rebooted it, and now all my systems are working flawlessly again...
There have been a couple of security updates released lately for Wireless
networks, and its possible the interference could be related to an issue
corrected in one of the new firmwares.
Hope this helps
Sean

Subject: [Ndiswrapper-general] SMC 2802Wv2 - are signal level statistics
reliable?
Hi!
I have a SMC 2802W V2 card running fine with ndiswrapper 1.0rc2 (and
previous versions). I also have a WLAN router (AVM Fritz!Box Fon WLAN) which
about three meters away, outside of the room right next to the
(open) door. I also bought a +5dBi antenna for the card.
When I watch the signal strenght indicator (using wavemon, for example), I
can see that the signal varies a lot and also the bitrate is constantly
changing between 1 Mbit/s and 54 Mbit/s.
Since I can only read the signal level and not the noise level, there may be
a chance that the readings are wrong. Otherwise I'm wondering what's causing
this behavior. I would expect a rock stable 54 MBit/s connection over this
small distance. There are also no other WLANs in this area. I've tried
different channels but nothing changed.
