For the Win9x family, with any text editor (e.g. Notepad) edit AUTOEXEC.BAT
in the Windows directory (or SYSTEM or SYSTEM32 subdirectory -- haven't done
this in a while). You'll see a line PATH=foo;bar;andsoon
of paths of directories to be searched for executables separated by semicolons.
Add C:MinGWin (or whatever appropriate drive letter is for you).
For XP (and maybe older NT family -- haven't done this except in XP) on the
Start Menu pick
In the resulting window, you'll see Path in the System Variables window (lower
one). Highlight it, click the Edit button and add C:MinGwin as above.
Be sure to separate with a semicolon -- no semicolon for end of list.
At the DOS prompt, type "PATH" to make sure it took. Win9x at least will need
a restart for change to take.
