According to the SMW documentation page, a value of a property of type String can have a maximum length of 255 characters. However, when I run a query on such values using wildcards, it's only the first part of a value (somewhere between 40 or 60 characters) that gets queried, while the rest of the string is simply ignored. As a consequence, queries (including those of Special:RunQuery) are missing results.
There's already a bug report about this, but since the issue may be caused by something else, I think it's worth spitting out here. Is there any way to solve this? Have I overlooked a setting that needs to be changed? Could it be specific to Debian (if that is what "squeeze" refers to)?
PHP 5.3.3-7 squeeze
MySQL 5.1.66 squeeze
