You're seeing the trees but not the whole forest.
To restate, you're seeing a single concrete manifestation of a problem and crafting a solution that solves only that specific manifestation, but both leaves other manifestations in place *and* creates new manifestations.
Instead of a one-off small localized "band-aid" patch at one point, let's solve the whole problem in one simple pass. Or one might illustrate it with the comparison of you grabbing onto the tail of an elephant and saying "a snake! let's grab a snare pole and get rid of it" while I'm saying "No, it's an elephant; just ask his mahout to have him step away"
