Hi Dave,
Thanks a lot for your response.
I'm just a student doing a practical training, hence I don't know all
the details, but as far as I know Agresearch wants to use chado as their
core database schema for several inhouse projects. At the moment we are
evaluating gmod to be the MOD to use for this projects.
For more detailed information please contact my supervisor Alan
McCulloch (alan.mcculloch@...).
BTW:
I couldn't send this email to your email address

Subject: Re: [Gmod-schema] Chado on oracle
Say Florian,
I think someone already mentioned that TIGR is running chado on oracle.
If you need a contact person there, try talking to Jennifer Wortman=20
(jwortnam@...) or Sam Angiuoli (angiuoli@...). They're very=20
knowledgeable, and I'm sure will either be able to answer your questions
or refer you to somebody who can.
I'm one of the designers of chado (along with Chris Mungall). We tried=20
to be completely rdbms-neutral with the schema design, and as far as the
basic ddl goes, I think we were successful. As I think Chris pointed=20
out, its more difficult to be platform-neutral with db functions, so you
might run into some issues there. It would be great if you could keep=20
us posted and let us know what problems surface as you migrate to=20
oracle, so that we can either fix the schema or at least know exactly=20
where compatability issues lay.
I'm dead curious what you're doing with chado at agresearch. As far as=20
I know, you're the only Kiwi outfit running our schema at this point.
Best,
-Dave
