[Jabref-users] Running Jabref with Java not installed properly

Hi.

I must work at a PC without administor rights.
Java is somehow installed on this Computer but i can not execute
JabRef.exe. I get the Error: "Could not find a Java Runtime Environment
installed on your computer. Without it you cannot run "JabRef"".

Actually there is java installed.
java -jar JabRef.jar
opens JabRef properly.

However, I want to have the JabRef icon in the taskbar (appended) and not
this Java-Cup.

So my question is: What does JabRef.exe check to ensure the JRE is
installed? Java is in my path...

Which operating system? Windows XP? Windows Vista? Windows 7?

I tried JabRef 2.9b2 at Win7, 64bit, and it just works :)

thank you for your reply. On the system runs windows 7 64bit.
And as I pointed out, Java is installed and I am able to start Jabref with
"java -ja JabRef.jar" but the executable JabRef.exe is not able to do so.

Which version? I.e., what is the output of "java -version"?

Only to ensure that we got similar configuration here...
