There are 2 options, neither of which involve actually accessing u-
1. If you have a CF or MMC card available, then you can use a gumstix-
factory.script to cause u-boot to do the reflashing for you
2. If you don't have CF or MMC, then you can do the reflashing from
within linux, but this can be tricky to get right. There's a link
which is a bit out of date here: <http://article.gmane.org/
gmane.linux.distributions.gumstix.general/8544> There's one step
which that method leaves out, which is to either pad your rootfs
image out to the full size of flash, or else to first use flash_erase
to empty the MTD partition before using flashcp to do the install.
If you do the latter, you'll probably want to copy the various
commands you'll be using into /tmp since when you do the
"flash_erase" your existing rootfs will then be GONE...
