I'm not familiar with how JBindery handles the classpath, but it sounds
like you still need to add swingall.jar from the JFC 1.1.1 installation
to the classpath before running the jEdit installer. It shouldn't matter
where it is installed, just that it is part of the classpath.

You'll have to do something similar with the JBindery settings for
running jEdit, i would assume.

I'm sorry I've been never using MAC, but on Unix systems there are=20
environment variables. CLASSPATH one must include the jar with Swing.=20
How do you run swing demos?

Here's some instructions to get jEdit running on pre Mac OS X machines:

To install it, you have 2 alternatives.
1) Uncompress the *install.jar file with stuffit expander. This 
method will also give you files intended for other platforms, but at 
least jEdit will work.

2) Use JBindery as you have been doing.

To create the executable
*  Open the "JBindery" application included in Apple's MRJ SDK.
*  Type "org.gjt.sp.jedit.jEdit" into the "Class name" field.
*  You may like to set "Redirect stdout" to /dev/null to stop 
annoying console windows popping up.
*  Click on the "Classpath" icon.
*  If you haven't done so already, uncompress the jEdit archive you downloaded.
*  Drag the jedit.jar file to the "Additions to class path" list.
*  You may like to customise some of the settings under the "Application" icon.
*  Once done, click "Save Settings ..." and save your Application to 
your jEdit directory.
*  run the application you just created.

Make sure Swingall.jar (from Sun's JFC 1.1 package) is in the correct 
location. It must be placed in the System Folder/Extensions/MRJ 
Libraries/MRJClasses/
