Note that u-boot does not support USB out-of-the-box, so you'll have
to boot enough of linux as Dave says, to get USB drivers and such
working. You won't be able to load the kernel from a USB drive from
within u-boot without modifying u-boot. I don't know/haven't looked
to see if u-boot has a PXA270 USB host driver available -- I think it
possibly has other USB drivers, so it might be possible just by
changing some config options in the u-boot directory in the buildroot.
