I downloaded a champollion-1.1.gz and uncompressed it.
and got this: champollion-1.1.
** this is the latest version avialable since a long time
But how to make it run? I just cannot tell the file type of it.
P.S. where can I find the perl version because I want to build it into a
small system.
** champollion is written in perl
there are bash scripts in the 'bin' directory that you have to invoke to run champollion
1. for english - chinese parallel corpora alignment use champollion.EC
2. for english - english-like , use champollion.generic.
** champollion runs on unix or unix like env, with perl installed, so linux or if ur on windows use cygwin.
the basic usage info is given in the readme.
make sure to set the CTK env variable.
** champollion tool kit has some loose ends:
the generic lang alignments dont work, thats becoz the tokenizer(in axis.generic) is not in sync with the champollion perl script logic.
make the generic tokenizer like the EN tokenizer found in axis.EC, then it should work fine.
** engish-chinese EC and arabic EA works fine though
sample files are found in demo directory
