trying to run ./mode2

when I do ./mode2 (btw I have already linked to the proper serial port)
it gives me the following:

mode2: error opening /dev/lirc
mode2: Input/output error

I have tryed bot com ports

If you could please give a reason for this, it would be apreciated

mode2 won't work for devices that use the standard serial port driver.  
This is the case if /dev/lirc is only a link to /dev/ttySx.
