Thanks to all who responded. I believe my problems started because the
ivtv module was not loading at bootup...not sure why it stopped, but it
did. After loading ivtv, if I insert ir_kbd_ic I get the remote as
another keyboard. I have not messed with lirc_dev/lirc_i2c.
One person stated that they used ir_kbd_ic successfully, and another
stated they had used lirc_dev/lirc_i2c successfully, so I guess both
