That is very good news as sockets are the last bit of missing
functionality required to compile (as opposed to run) the Maxima CAS
with Windows SBCL 0.9.12 as released in the recent binary package.
After #-'ing out the Maxima server code to work around that missing
functionality I compiled CVS Maxima the other night on Windows.
The resulting saved Maxima executable presented a prompt but died on
it's first calculation with a runtime error about some getrlimit related
lisp function emanating from the SBCL runtime which I have yet to track
As getrlimit is not a Windows function, and unless there is some
unfortunate reason for implementing equivalent functionality, I'm hoping
that this runtime difficulty will be fairly simple to fix and SBCL will
be close to becoming a viable Maxima platform on Windows.
