Dear Phenote users,
The latest Phenote release is now available for download at http://phenote.org/download.shtml. Most of the changes are relatively minor, but there is one important bug fix.
When you launch Phenote, it looks for the ontology files required by the configuration you've chosen. Some of these ontology files are available from URLs specified in the configuration file; others are included in the Phenote jar. At some point in the summer, I inadvertently broke the code that retrieves ontology files from the jar, so certain configurations were unusable because Phenote couldn't find some of the required ontology files. (Strangely, no one reported this serious problem--maybe no one was using the affected configurations?)
Another fix that will interest some users is that the Graph View (which is one of the components Phenote shares with OBO-Edit) is now fixed, so you can see complete ontology trees and not just the immediate parent(s) of the selected term.
As always, please let us know if you come across any Phenote bugs. The best way to report them is to submit a bug report via the bug tracker (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=76834&atid=887913). Be as specific as you can--say which configuration you were using, which operating system (e.g., Windows 7, or Ubuntu Linux), and include a data file if applicable.
