I'm using an AjaxInPlace component to edit a particular attribute of
an EO in the conventional way: two ERXWOTemplates, one containing a
wo:string, the other a wo:textfield. This works as designed, but I'm
wondering if anyone has any UI suggestions for hinting to the user
exactly how the component works. Most of the editing occurs when the
EO is newly created and the attribute is empty. What I do is
initialize the attribute to contain the text "Click here to edit".
It's then obvious what the user needs to do, but every time they then
need to select and delete that text before typing their own.
Space is a little tight in this area of the page, so putting the
"Click here to edit" label outside the component won't be ideal. I
was thinking of abandoning the AjaxInPlace in favour of, say, a plain
old texfield with an AjaxTextHinter and AjaxObserveField watching it.
Anyone got any better ideas?
