I second another shipping option...UPS charged me a CDN$30 customs brokerage
fee on top of shipping and taxes. So, a ~$200 order fast becomes nearly $300
with shipping, UPS "brokerage" fees, and taxes...

Might I suggest DHL?

 

Anything coming from the US to overseas is going to be like US$35 or more,
but inside the US shipping is much lower

I have my own shipping account with them for miscellaneous items, including
RMAs.

 

They are flawless as far as customer service goes, and about a week after I
setup my account, I received a phone call and they were able to give me very
good personalized rates based on the types items I ship and the frequency.

 

I don't think UPS does this.. Do they?

To my country (Brasil, or Brazil, as you spell), a US$ 200 order becomes 
slightly more than $400 with taxes and close to $600 with shipping and 
UPS fees.

For people trying gumstix as a hobby or otherwise low-budget purposes, 
this is frequently a show stopper. Under my case that's not to do about 
the taxes, but kicking UPS out of the game could help quite a lot :-)

insurable, trackable...

I've had items sent to me here in the UK via USPS, it's slower than UPS =
etc., taking about a week, but is *much* cheaper.

We used to include USPS as a shipping option.  USPS lost about 10-15%  
of all our shipments to some destinations, used "tracking" in the  
sense of being able to sometimes tell you whether the package had  
been delivered or not, but if so, not to whom, and if not, they had  
no idea where the package actually was.  The packages were insured,  
but the claims process (on 10-15% of packages we shipped remember to  
some destinations) was cumbersome and impossible to automate.

Ditto. Actually, I'd entrust Gumstix and expansion boards to GPM. I've
never, ever had a GPM package go AWOL.
