When I build a new version of sbcl, I make my own binary installation
file. I move it over to my laptop, etc. But I get a slight glitch.
Probably making a simple mistake.
First I build the package in "Home." Then I do this to make a .tar
$HOME contains /Users/dan ...
~: cd sb*
~/sbcl-1.0.14: sh binary-distribution.sh $HOME/sbcl*
Then I compress with either bz2 or gzip, like this ...
# makes a tar.bz2 file
~: bzip2 sb*.tar
# alternately, converts the tar to a .gz
# replaces the original .tar file as a side-effect
~: gzip sb*.tar
The trouble is that when I unpack, I don't get a file
in "Home" as with a downloaded binary. Instead I get the
Not a big deal, but might as well get it straight.
