There might be some error message if you start QLGT from a console with 
-d option.

Another option would be to install GDAL once more.

I just recall that such kind of tools where a sure thing to destroy 
Windows back in the times I used it. :)

p.s. ho aggiornato a gdal 1.9.1 ma l'errore è sempre lo stesso:

That says your DEM data is loaded but QLGT accesses data outside the 
valid area. Try gdalinfo to check the bounding box of the file.
