Hi everyone

Through Jorum [1] we've been doing some JISC [2] funded work on testing the
DSpace REST API. To date we have tested most of the 'read' side of the API,
later we may be moving onto the 'write' side.

You can find out what we have done so far at

github repo (that contains slightly modified code for the API and our
tests).
What we have found out about the API so far appears in the sole/first
comment on the blog post.

I am the sole Hedtek person on this list, if you want to ask questions or

There's nothing like an application to help motivate a project, and a little funding helps too. @Bojan, I think a better path to pick up on these commits wouldn't be to try to make a super-commit with the diff and pull it back to SVN. I think moving dspace-rest to github, and helping hedtek rebase their commits off of that to make a proper fork would be best. So that, after we get a chance to review the code, then we can either merge all the commits (preserving hedtek's authorship). Thus making it really easy for anyone to kick the tires, fix a few things, and contribute back. We are just adding the DSpace licence as I write so everything is in a good state for you to incorporate the tests into the DSpace codebase as open source (but please tell us if we need to do anything else). Peter's plan for forking etc is good. We seem to have found some colleagues who are interested in working on tests as well, let's hope that that takes off. I don't think a static copy/paste of their work would be sufficient, especially since they appear to still be somewhat actively developing their instance of the module. To accomplish this, I'd like to convert our current dspace-rest module from SVN to GIT for version control tracking. Then, merge hedtek's improvements into dspace-rest, and host it on github. I think moving to GitHub is best for the rest project to get community contribution, like from Hedtek. Being able to fork the REST API project and then push changes back to the community version control for review and acceptance would be very useful.
