openssh 5.4 is about 8 times faster than 4.7 in linux->xp direction.
scp: 3.9 MB/sec linux->xp, 5 MB/sec xp->linux
git clone: 6.9 MB/sec linux->xp (git repo of one file made from /dev/urandom
and git gc'ed - one big pack file)
scp: 0.55 MB/sec linux->xp, 8.3 MB/sec xp->linux (ssh 4.7)
git clone 1.3 MB/sec linux->xp, same repo as above

Your posting caused me to try it immediately instead of
next week :-) you rock!
winscp is still a little faster but the difference is hardly noticeable
and I need openssh as a git transport.
will try now to take msysgit 7.0.2 and just copy openssh 5.4 +
libopenssl-1.0.0 over the installed msys tree and see if it works.
PS: why are you building against msys 1.0.13 and not 1.0.14?
(just being curious)
