I just fled from work, so I can't say for sure which gcc it is, but we
use SuSe 10.1 (don't ask), so it's probably a fairly old one. I will try
it with my Ubuntu system here at home later, maybe I can even find out
the oldest version that supports inherited inline functions.
Is there some kind of preprocessor directive to find out the version of
the compiler used? Maybe the offending function can be put in an #if
directive depending on gcc's version.
Either that or adjusting the SConscript to check for a minimum version
of gcc. Sometimes, you can't be downwards compatible for everyone.
