Hi - I'm currently having problems with a mydns-1.1.0 server, which runs fine for a few hours, then dies with "out of memory: Cannot allocate memory" in the logs. strace suggests nothing interesting to me, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Any suggestions? Questions: 1. is anyone else seeing this sort of problem? 2. how much memory should mydns want for a hundred or so domains? 3. is http://mydns.grid.net.ru/mydns-1.2.4.tar.gz official? 4. does it address http://www.frsirt.com/english/advisories/2007/1561 (aka [ 1802100 ] Patch against exploit ?) too? Any suggestions? Could you please compile mydns with debug enabled and send a debug log? ./configure --enable-debug > Questions: > 1. is anyone else seeing this sort of problem? I don't see such problem personally, but doesn't mean that the problem does not exist. May be someone else could reproduce this. -- Best regards, Valery Kholodkov |

Hi again! Important notice. > Hi - I'm currently having problems with a mydns-1.1.0 server, which > runs fine for a few hours, then dies with "out of memory: Cannot > allocate memory" in the logs. strace suggests nothing interesting to > me, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Any suggestions? While preparing a debug log, please be careful to not reveal any private information (ip addresses, customers, etc), which could potentially be recorded by mydns. > Questions: [...] > 3. is http://mydns.grid.net.ru/mydns-1.2.4.tar.gz official? Depends on what stands for "official". It is official from the point of view of people who wanted to develop mydns further, but it is not from Don Moore. -- Best regards, Valery Kholodkov |

Thank you so much for the comments. It seems that it was hitting two limits in the virtual server config (my mistake - I had forgotten it was running in a virutal server): dgramrcvbuf and Tcprcvbuf limits. The error message was a bit misleading, but I'm not sure why. Is there a smart way to figure out how big to set these, apart from trial-and-error? Does anyone stand by the mydns-1.2.4.tar.gz enough to GPG-sign it? Should I ask debian to update from 1.1.0 to 1.2.4, or to start a new package as mydns-ng or some such? Sorry for all the questions - I like mydns and I want its users to have the best version available in the long term.
