Awhile back, my church's worship leader tried some other WAV to MIDI
conversion program (also Windows based, since that's what he runs). It
did a good job of turning pitches into notes, but the result was
completely useless in our opinion. Every note in the piece was on the
same score, instruments were not recognized as separate instruments,
etc. We thought that perhaps processing the original wave through
filters to produce separate frequency ranges might help isolate certain
instruments, but finally decided that the old-fashioned transcribing
by repeated listening was more effective.
