Ive been in contact with Rutgers university, and more specifically Doug
DeCarlo who is a professor at the University, and is the lead in
developing RUTH. As I said he is a Professor, and teaches so progress is
dependent on his schedule as time allows.
I initially opened the discussions in Late January with occasional
correspondence off and on. Now that his schedule has opened up a bit
he'll be giving this some attention.
We are still in the process of discussing and figuring a way to create a
symbiosis between our projects. Currently they are doing 'bugfix' work on
RUTH and I have submitted a 'Wish List' of core features that should give
us an awesome tool with enough control to do some really fun things with
the MH/RUTH combo.
Initially the RUTH release will be more expressive, and address some of
the more general issues. There has also been hints of a major rewrite
with even better response and features, but that is probably a bit farther
out in the future.
We're still hammering out the Distribution details, and I believe there
will be acceptable terms that both projects can use. From there we can
build community and distribution around these two amazing projects.
Personally my mind reels at the possibilities, bringing a face to home
automation, and totally different ways to interact with it.
I don't expect things to happen very fast, but rather to be a more
methodical and deliberate process. And with any kind of luck we'll have
MrRuth working on multiple platforms before long (win *nix ?mac)
As always feedback and discussion is always welcome
Stay tuned for updates as they come available
